Description

Whatsapp is an instant chat messenger app launched in 2009 by a former Yahoo employee. It is a multi-platform app having versions for all major operating systems such as Android, iOS, Windows and Web, etc.

Whatsapp allows users to send text messages, voice messages, make voice and video calls, share photos/images, document files, live location or any location pin points, and other digital media. It is the most stable and bug-free communication app widely being used.

How to Download Whatsapp

Downloading Whatsapp is very simple and only takes few seconds or minutes in some cases depending upon your internet speed. In this review, I will only be focusing on Whatsapp for the Android version.

Firstly, you have to download Whatsapp Messenger from Google Play Store, just open the PlayStore app from your phone and then tap on the PlayStore search input box on the top. Write Whatsapp in the input box and then press enter from the keyboard of your phone.

You will be presented with a new list full of WhatsApp-related apps. You will see the first app in the list that is original and real WhatsApp. Tap on the name, you will be presented with the full details. You need to confirm if this is from the original publisher if it is showing WhatsApp LLC – Communication as a publisher name then it is original app. Just tap on install.

How to Whatsapp Works

Using Whatsapp is not a hard or big task, it only requires registration and some contacts you already have on your phone. Just open it and enter your mobile number, once you successfully entered your number you will be asked to provide an SMS code just sent to your provided mobile number. Here if you allow few seconds WhatsApp automatically fetches it from your mobile.

Now, Whatsapp is registered on your phone, you can perform different tasks such as uploading your display picture, change your status, add your real name, etc.

Whatsapp will also search in your contacts for your friends already registered and using Whatsapp on the phone and will display them in the Whatsapp contact list. You can initiate chat, create a group chat, send text & voice messages, share photos, etc.

Whatsapp Features

There are numerous features WhatsApp offers; however some features are very important, I will only talk about those.

Private Chat

Almost everyone needs privacy to chat with their friends and family privately. Whatsapp offers this feature including photo sharing, voice messages, voice calls, and video calls, etc.

Group Chat

Group chat is a necessary feature that is required by everyone, it allows you and your friends to chat/talk in a group so everyone can see messages and participate in chat.

Status

It is the latest trend to upload or create status messages in every social app. After Facebook and other social apps, Whatsapp also introduced status uploading feature.

It is just like a story that stays for 24 hours and then gets removed from your status. You can upload photos, videos, or any content on status.

Voice & Video Calls

The most important feature nowadays is having video and voice calls ability right from the chat app. So Whatsapp got it covered and allows you to make voice calls or video calls to any of your contact. You can also make calls from chat groups and can add multiple friends to the call.

Location Sharing

The feature I like most is live location sharing with your friends. It allows you to share your live location with GPS/Location service in a chat group or in private chat or you can also share pin points to your contacts.

Other Features

  • Disappearing messages
  • Message delivery information
  • Message broadcasting
  • Mute/block contacts
  • Clear chat history/export chat
  • Cloud/local backup and restore
  • Search contacts
  • Search words in chat
  • Bookmark messages

What's new

  • You can now send photos and videos that can only be viewed once by recipients. Tap the new "1" icon that appears next to the caption.
Archived chats will now stay archived and muted when new messages arrive. You can change the experience in Settings > Chats > Keep Chats Archived.
You can now leave and rejoin group calls from the calls tab while they are ongoing.
